How to Wear the Logo Trend

Location: Petersham Nurseries

Logos are back! After years of being out of fashion, the 1990’s trend of loud, proud and in your face logos have made a reappearance, with brands such as Gucci, Versace and Fendi making their logos front and centre of recent runway shows during the Big 4 Fashion Week Calendar.

Fear that the look could be construed as trashy, and with counterfeit goods all around, it can be hard to find the perfect balance between trend and tacky, especially for those who prefer to be more incognito.  So does that mean it’s time to dress head-to-toe in your favourite label? As someone who believes less is more, below are a few subtle ways to incorporate the logo trend into your wardrobe, without looking like a walking advertisement.

All photos were taken at Petersham Nurseries in Richmond, which was looking so beautiful on a snowy Sunday.

1.  The Handbag

An easy and subtle way to add the trending logo to your outfit is via your handbag.  You also get so many options, which really allows you to adopt the trend to your liking. Whether the logo be printed on the material, debossed into the leather or just on the clasp, there is definitely something for everyone. When purchasing, try to find a timeless and elegant piece that you can continue to wear even after logos might be out of style. My own personal preference would be for neutral shades of beige, black or baby pink that you can wear with any outfit, without it being too loud.  That bag with the bright red glitter and large logo on the clasp may look great now, but will you be wearing it in five years time? Some of my favourite pieces are linked below.

2. The T-Shirt

I have actually begun to really love this look.  I used to find brand names on tops a little too much for me, but the more I see the more I like. I love a simple white T-shirt with silver or gold branding across the front – whether it be in small or large font. You can pair this with jeans, under a suit or tucked into your favourite Wolford Fatal Dress. So versatile!

3. The Belt

If you’re not looking at breaking the bank on a bag but still want to jump on the branding band wagon, a classy belt could be the option for you. Why not even match it to your T-shirt and pair with your favourite high waited jeans? A beautiful belt buckle can also transform your oversized dress into a whole new look.

4. The Jewellery

Not for everyone and definitely not the cheapest of options! Add a third element to your white tee and gold gilt belt by layering over your favourite pearly Chanel double-C or Gucci double-G necklace.  Not for the faint-hearted but oh so in tune with the big fashion houses!

5. The Scarf

Another more affordable way to add some branding to your look is to throw on an elegant shawl or scarf with logo detail. Perfect for the last few days of freezing cold in London! For that more dressed up look, add a silk or cashmere shawl as your stand-out piece. For day-to-day wear, try a chunky knit! This can really elevate a simple outfit and again so versatile! A few of my favourites are below.
