Location: London, UK
There are some weeks that are better than others, and the last week or so has been just that. It might be because we are at the start of a new season and to me that means the start of something new – a fresh chapter. Last year was exactly the same, when over September 2017 we slowly packed away our student way of life (even though it has been a long time since I was a student!) and moved into our new home in west London. It all felt very grown up – almost as though we accepted that we would make London our base and would settle into what would be our home for the next few years. We then went on to bring home the next member of our family, little Luna the Frenchie, who came to us in November.
Once again, this September was another year of continuing the growing up process. Firstly, after five and a half years working at the same firm, I decided to call it quits and move on. New job, new challenges, new adventures. It’s amazing what a change in scenery can do for your mental state when you have become so accustomed to your surroundings. The second big change was that finally, after so many years in the UK, I finally bought a car! My own little set of wheels! It is true that in London, having your own little car is a luxury in itself as the transport links are so good, but we felt as though the time was right. It was just another step in building out our life together in London and all part of continuing this whole growing up exercise.
What I am particularly excited about, is that not only does the car make us feel more and more like responsible adults, but it also means we are going to get to start travelling in a whole new way. I’m lucky enough that our travel schedule is always kept pretty full with flights here, there and everywhere. Now though, with the car, I’m looking forward to settling down a little, maybe doing a bit less flying, and instead swapping to road trips! Just our little family of three exploring the UK and beyond. Our first mission – one mega road trip from the UK to Malta over Christmas! There is a lot of planning ahead of us to make sure that we have everything organised, but I am so looking forward to the long drive south and to bringing you along for the ride. Watch this space!
I would love to hear your suggestions on road trips you think are worth going on, either across Europe or in the UK! Let me know your suggestions in the comments section below!
