The 20 Best Berlin Rooftop Bars in 2023
1. Klunkerkranich
Neukölln is one of Berlin’s coolest neighborhoods, and the Klunkerkranich rooftop garden is just as artsy and alternative as you might expect it to be. Located on the roof of a shopping center, this popular spot has picnic benches, lots of greenery, and a relaxed vibe.
The crowd is young, and drink prices are reasonable, making it the perfect spot for afternoon beers or snacks before sunset. Just make sure to arrive early; once the DJs set up in the evening, this bar is always packed.
2. Gallery Rooftop Bar
Known for its excellent gin and tonic, the Gallery Rooftop at Hotel Indigo Berlin is a swanky and upscale bar with handcrafted cocktails and delicious food. You’ll get to enjoy fantastic views of the Berlin Wall and the Spree River, so make sure to come when there’s still daylight, so you don’t miss out on the panoramic view.
While this is definitely a stylish and expensive bar, the atmosphere is still relaxed, so don’t worry about being underdressed.
3. Monkey Bar
Monkey Bar at the 25Hours Hotel Bikini Berlin is a name you’ll keep coming across when researching the best rooftop bars in Berlin. This notorious spot gets its name from the adjacent Berlin Zoo and Tiergarten, which it overlooks.
The atmosphere is more relaxed in the early evening before the bar turns into a live music venue for local DJs at night. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to pre-book a table, so arrive early if you want to get a seat.
4. The Rooftop Terrace at Hotel de Rome
The terrace at the luxurious Hotel de Rome in the heart of Berlin Mitte might just have the best views out of all the rooftop bars Berlin has to offer. It’s an upscale venue, and drink prices are steep but worth it. Make sure to try their champagne cocktails and stay for sunset which is usually magical, especially during summer.
The Rooftop Terrace at Hotel de Rome is one of the few bars on this list which is also open during the day, so you can come by for lunch if you want to avoid the crowds. Don’t forget to stop by the famous Bebelplatz, the State Opera, and the Berlin Cathedral, which are located nearby, while you are in the area.
5. Grace Rooftop at Hotel Zoo
The Grace Rooftop Bar at Hotel Zoo considers itself the most beautiful rooftop in Berlin, and while it’s hard for us to decide on a clear winner, it’s definitely a top contender.
Imagine comfortable couches, greenery, and stunning views of the trendy Charlottenburg neighborhood. All this, paired with unique handcrafted cocktails that combine unusual flavors, make the Grace Rooftop a must-visit during your time in Berlin.
Note that this bar opens in the summer months only, so do make sure it’s open before trying to visit!
6. 260 Grad Bar
This bar is perfect for interior-design lovers hoping to spend their time in Berlin at hip rooftop bars that won’t be overcrowded with tourists.
Located just around the corner from the Mercedes Benz Arena and the East Side Gallery, the 260 Grad Bar has river views, which you can enjoy from either the indoor or open-air terraces. Their cocktails are incredible and will keep you coming back for more.
7. Cloud One Bar Berlin Upper West
There are two Cloud One Bars in Berlin, but the one in the Upper West is the best choice. It has great views of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, and is less touristy than its sister bar at the Alexanderplatz – mainly because most tourists don’t know it’s open to the public, despite being part of a hotel.
If the weather is nice, the outdoor terrace is especially beautiful and the perfect place to enjoy a few drinks as you take in the impressive skyline views. You’re guaranteed to love this not-so-secret hidden bar.
8. Roof Garden at the Weekend Club
Located on the 17th floor, the Weekend Club Roof Garden (formerly House of Weekend) is one of the highest bars on this list, providing uninterrupted views of the Berlin TV Tower.
If you want to dance the night away on a famous rooftop, this is the place to go. International DJs take the floor in the evenings, and the bar becomes an open-air club. The vibes are always fun, so make sure to put this rooftop at the top of your list if you’re a party lover.
9. Hotel AMANO Rooftop Bar
The AMANO Bar at Hotel AMANO Rooms & Apartments on Augustrasse is a beautiful little spot that most tourists tend to miss out on.
Located in the heart of Berlin, you’ll get to enjoy views of the TV Tower, incredible cocktails, and a relaxed atmosphere that invites you to stay for the entire evening. Our tip: reserve a table if you can since it may be hard to get a spot spontaneously.
10. Studio 14 Bar
Studio 14 is one of the more unusual bars on this list and somewhat of a hidden gem.
Located on the top floor of a TV broadcasting studio, you might even run into some local celebrities here. The outdoor terrace is especially beautiful, and we highly recommend trying their Aperol Spritz, which is always exceptional.
11. Darwin’s Lab/Spreegold
Located right by the Berlin Zoo on the 2nd floor of the famous Bikini Berlin Shopping Mall, the Darwin’s Lab rooftop has a great menu of small bites and delicious cocktails.
You can choose between sitting outside during the summer or inside, where the interior is stylish and modern. The service here is always excellent, and it’s the perfect combination of upscale without being too fancy.
12. Apartment Bar
The Apartment Bar at Hotel Amaro Grand Central is another underrated spot, where chic aesthetics and hedonism reigns supreme. There are two floors to choose from, but the rooftop terrace is by far the prettiest.
Choose between comfortable sofas or bar seats, and enjoy the views over Berlin and the river as you sip on a cocktail. Our tip: stay a bit longer and head downstairs, where you’ll find a dance floor and parties on the weekend.
13. Bijou Bar
The Bijou Bar is another hotel bar (part of the Monbijou Hotel) located in Berlin’s cultural centre – Berlin Mitte.
Their roof terrace is sophisticated but charming, with lovely views and a welcoming atmosphere. You won’t find any DJs here, but instead just good vibes, good food and friendly staff.
14. Meisterschueler Bar
Meisterschueler is an intriguing blend of trendy art gallery by day, and a riverside bar where it’s all happening at night. It’s also located in Berlin Mitte, and offers fantastic views of the Spree river. If you enjoy handcrafted cocktails and an eclectic setting, this is the spot for you.
Don’t just take our word for it, it was also recommended on the World’s Best Bars list! The bartenders here take their work very seriously and will blow you away with their skills.
15. Solar Sky Bar
The Solar Sky Bar and its attached fine-dining restaurant isn’t the cheapest of venues, but their prices are absolutely worth it. The food is excellent, and if you’re looking for a romantic place for a special occasion, you’ll love this place.
After enjoying your dinner, head upstairs to the rooftop terrace, which overlooks the rooftops of Berlin. The Solar Sky Bar is a true hidden gem with wonderful staff, and one of our favorites in the entire city.
16. Alice Rooftop and Garden
The Alice Rooftop often hosts private events and isn’t always open to the public, but if you happen to get a chance to visit during your time in Berlin, we highly recommend it!
They sometimes offer movie screenings or live music, so definitely stop by if you can. This is one of the bigger rooftop terraces on this list, and you’ll love how they decorate the space depending on the occasion.
17. Vienna House Andel Loft 14
This swanky bar has a loungy atmosphere and is one of the most romantic rooftop bars Berlin has to offer. Loft 14, located at Vienna House Andel, is a pricey venue, but the high-quality drinks and food make up for it.
Come here just before sunset for the best views over the skyline, and don’t forget to snap a photo or two to commemorate the evening.
18. Deck 5
If you’re craving the beach during your time in Berlin, Deck 5 is the bar for you. Think sun loungers, palm trees, and sand between your toes.
This is Berlin’s highest beach bar, located on top of the Schönhauser Allee Arcaden Shopping Mall in the hip neighborhood of Prenzlauer Berg. It’s only open during the summer months, so make sure to double-check before you go.
19. Hotel ZOE Rooftop Bar (ZOE Bar)
During summer, the ZOE Hotel by Amano opens its rooftop terrace and becomes one of the most popular bars at the Hackescher Markt.
The panoramic views of the Berlin TV Tower are absolutely stunning, and the atmosphere is laid back and relaxed. Hotel Zoe allows outside visitors to enjoy their bar too, so it’s not exclusive to hotel guests.
20. SOHO House Berlin
We love the rooftop bar at SOHO House Berlin – one of the best luxury hotels in the area in our opinion – but it’s officially only open to hotel guests and not the public.
If you happen to be staying at this hotel or are considering booking it, it’s a fantastic choice, especially if you’re looking for a beautiful rooftop terrace.
The cocktails here are excellent and the atmosphere is far more private, so you’ll always be able to get a table without waiting too long. You’ll be just around the corner from Rosa-Luxemburg Platz, so the location is very convenient for exploring the city.
