Brand new to the London-beauty scene is Emolyne – a cosmetics brand that provides solutions to two common beauty concerns that so many women have. At its core, Emolyne has carefully curated 30 shades of red and nude lipsticks, lip liners and nail polishes. The unique selling point is how Emolyne offers perfectly matching lipstick and nail polish to the fashion conscious that are wanting a uniform hue on both lips and nails. Second, these 30 shades across Emolyne cosmetics are designed to suit EVERY skin tone.
After being featured in Good Housekeeper and various beauty blogs, I was delighted to receive my own Emolyne parcel in the post. Here’s the review!

Emolyne was founded by Ugandan-born, Denmark-raised Emolyne Ramlov, after struggling to find complementary nail and lip products where the shades were a perfect match. And like any modern entrepreneurial woman who spots a gap in the market for what she is looking for, she started her very own eponymous cosmetics line offering just that.

Enter Emolyne cosmetics – where it’s all about your shade, your rules. True to the founder’s own heritage, each of the shades are named after an African country or city, and celebrate the colour and warmth of her roots. It serves as a reminder of the brand’s ethos of inclusiveness, where the shades were created for every ethnicity, gender, age and lifestyle.
And yet, whilst celebrating inclusiveness, the concept that beauty is very much personal is not forgotten. From light and pale white, olive and mid-brown to very dark, each skin tone has varying undertones with different needs. In fact, the same person even changes shade depending on the seasons. Whatever your skin tone, Emolyne’s 30 shades have you covered.
If ensure of the right shade for you, visit the Emolyne website and select Find Your Shade. Here you’ll be able to see what each of colour looks like across a variety of skin tones.
30 Perfectly Matching Lipstick and Nail Polish Sets
The complete set, aptly named the Metamorphosis Collection, comprises of three items, each in 15 shades of red and 15 shades of nude:
All of Emolyne cosmetics are both vegan and cruelty free.
The Velvet Semi Matte Lipstick
The Velvet Semi Matte Lipstick comes in a glitzy pentagonal casing. A click of the E at the top of the casing and the lipstick pops out, a simple twist and the colour emerges. The first noticeable feature is the warm and comforting scent – a scent which, to me, is similar to a rich, moisturising body lotion. And just like a body lotion, the lipstick glides onto the lips with ease. The pigmentation is incredible. With just one swipe, the colour is strong and opaque, without the need to apply several coats.
The lipsticks are also remarkably long-lasting, lasting for hours even after eating and drinking. Unlike many other long-lasting lipsticks though, they remain moisturising rather than drying thanks to the creamy consistency, leaving you with a beautiful semi matte finish.
Velvet Long Wear Lip Definer
The Velvet Long Wear Lip Definer complements the lipstick, with perfectly matching pigments. Just like the lipstick, the lip liner is incredibly pigmented and glides onto the lips smoothly. It is so pigmented in fact, that you could get away with just wearing the lip liner. It can be used more traditionally to outline the lips or as an overall base before applying lipstick to prevent feathering.
The texture of the lip liner is equally as creamy and there is no tugging on application. A common problem I find with lip liners – even some of the most popular – is that they often dry out and it takes effort to get the colour on. This was not an issue with Emolyne.
To complete the look, nail polishes are available with those exact same pigments, so that you can get that perfectly uniform matching lipstick and nail polish look. Just like the lipstick and lipliner, the nail polishes are super pigmented and offer a high shine finish. Having used the nail polishes at home frequently over the last few months, I can confidently say that they easily last up to a week before needing to be refreshed. The nail polish brush is slightly wide, making application that little bit easier. You will need an additional brush if your plan is to add nail art.
All products can be purchased directly from the Emolyne website. If purchasing all three items together as a combo, the cost is even lower. I cannot speak highly enough of these products and they truly make the perfect addition to any makeup bag. In a nutshell, they are just so incredibly pigmented, creamy and long-lasting and come in every kind of red and nude shade you would ever need.
The shades Cape Coast and Nairobi were used in these images. Which shade would you go for?
